JubiPereira
I show you the tattoo hidden behind your life story.
Black and grey realism from a private studio in Corralejo, Fuerteventura.

11 years of realism, the last 3 in Corralejo.
I’m Jubi Pereira. I grew up in Recife, in the north-east of Brazil, in a humble neighbourhood on a hill: clay and wood houses, fruit trees and a view over the other neighbourhoods. I started drawing as a kid, with my siblings in our yard and at school.
I studied artistic drawing in Brazil, then spent two years at D2, an animation school in Argentina, where I learned to build a piece from a story or a reference. In 2015, a friend visiting me there left their tattoo machines at my place: my first real contact with tattooing. That friend helped me take the first steps, and I also trained in tattooing and skin health in Argentina.
I have always loved charcoal drawing, its textures and strong shadows, and I see a lot of room to carry one art into the other. Black and grey realism is how I capture what a person feels and turn their story into something that lasts. Work and family brought me to Fuerteventura, with the idea of a new life in Europe.

Work
12 pieces in black and grey, each one inked as it arrives. Open any piece to see the detail.
From stencil to skin
Every piece starts on paper. Scroll to watch one become a tattoo.
Your story
Tell me the idea, where it goes and roughly how big. Before the day, come by the studio for a coffee so we can get to know each other.
The drawing
I compose the design around your story. Two years at an animation school taught me to build a whole scene on paper first.
The stencil
The drawing goes onto your skin in violet, so you can see it in place before the first line.
The session
A private session, with time to talk, breaks, coffee and even a bite to eat. A sitting can run to five or six hours of needle time.

The studio
A private studio in Corralejo, in the north of Fuerteventura.

Before you book
Be really sure, because it’s forever.
Does it hurt?
Pain is relative. It depends on each person.
Do you use numbing cream?
Yes. I apply it at the studio.
Do you tattoo in colour?
It depends on the piece. Black and grey realism is my focus.
Can I bring my own design?
Both work: bring a reference, or I create it from your story. It depends on the piece.
Can you tattoo over a scar?
It depends. I need to see it first.
How should I prepare my skin?
Keep it moisturised, stay out of the sun, skip alcohol and get a good rest before your session.

Sun, sea and fresh ink
Fuerteventura is a beach island, so plan around healing. If you are here on holiday, book early in your stay.
Washing
Wash your hands first. Use lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap, then pat it dry with clean paper towel, without rubbing. Once or twice a day, or as I advise.
Moisturising
A thin layer of tattoo cream or fragrance-free moisturiser, just enough to stop it drying out. Avoid greasy creams and don’t overdo it.
Peeling and itching
Both are normal while it heals. Don’t scratch, pick or pull off the scabs, or you can spoil the result.
Healing time
Two to four weeks on the surface. The deeper layers of the skin take two to three months. Once it has healed, come by and show me.
Pool and sea
Wait at least two weeks, and ideally until it has fully healed.
Direct sun
Keep it out of the sun for two to four weeks. Once healed, SPF 30 to 50 keeps it sharp.
A fresh tan
Skin that has just tanned is more sensitive and harder to read. If it is red, peeling or burnt, wait until it has recovered. Skip sunbathing in the days before your session and keep your skin moisturised.
